Aging

| | Comments (5)
Age is a funny thing, isn't it?

I look in the mirror and see stray strands of gray hair, and it surprises me.  Oh, I don't care so much about going gray but, at only 37, I can't help but feel it's still a little early for that.  What can you do, though?  My follicles will do what they will do, and I think I'll let them.

It's just that when I look at my face, it's very young looking; people often think I'm around 25-27, and that's about how I feel.  So to look in the mirror and see those grays is to look in the mirror and realize that I'm older than I feel.

That's better than feeling older than I am, though.

It must be said that I'm pretty comfortable with the way I'm aging, actually.  I'm comfortable with who I am and where I'm at, and have a reasonable idea of where I'm going.  Naturally you never really know where you're going, but that's another discussion.

I am older, of course, and my idea of a good night is to come home, change into my pajamas and curl up on the couch with my computer/tv/book, a cup of coffee/tea, and my cats.  Randy is optional inasmuch as that if he isn't home, he'll be along eventually; I need "alone time" to supplement time spent with him anyway.  I get really cranky if I'm not left alone for a little while every day.  Just to be clear though, I'd feel differently about his absence if I was going to be deprived of him for more than one evening.  I kind of like the man, which is a good thing to be able to say after 13 years of marriage.

It didn't even take me all those years to grow to like him, either.  It just came naturally.

Also a good thing.  I'm lazy.

I've gotten off-topic here, but I think I'm done discussing aging anyway.  My current motto is: Gray hairs do not an old woman make.

Words to live by.

Plugging On

I've continued to work on this site.  Along with having to figure out the software upgrade and its configurations, I also have to learn how to code all over again in order to make things appear the way I want; code progresses and develops over time.  I'm getting there, but it's a process.  I'm playing around with styles on a test blog, making sure I get it right so I can just transfer my final look over here without hitch.

I've learned how to add your blog links- the coding is now far more complicated than it needs to be- and have been trying to locate everyone's addresses to be included.  If you don't see your address listed, please let me know.  I've already got more to add, but I want to make sure I don't miss anyone.

I've also got some regular kinks to work out here as well, but if you haven't noticed them, I'm not going to point them out.  I'll get to them when I get to them; they're not crucial.

I've had a long couple of days.

Yesterday I wound up having to go to the airport to pick my mother up because my brother was too sick to go.  I had planned to go to work for awhile, but when I got home Randy needed my help at Home Depot (we're replacing all of the interior doors, and the door for the screened-in porch), and I needed to return somethings and pick up others.  By the time we got home, I didn't have time to work before going to the award ceremony.  Because of the holiday, we didn't have work this past Monday, so I'm already behind in my hours for the week.  That meant putting in several hours today before helping out as an usher at the commencement ceremonies this evening.  Tomorrow: several more hours at work.  I could go in on Saturday, but I want my weekends off.  Which is kind of funny in this instance because between yesterday and Monday, I've already had 2 days off this week.  But I'm greedy; I want more.  So I'll work a longer day tomorrow in order to keep Saturday off.

I'm tired of me.  I'm going to go see what you've been up to instead.  Those of you whose blog addresses I have, that is.

I'll be glad when I'm all caught up.

Heads-Up...Feeds

Hey there...

If you subscribe to my blog through feeds like Bloglines, I think you'll need to reset them; it didn't work for me until I deleted the old feed and re-entered the new.

Progress

I at least have a working blog.  I still have to figure out how to get my old posts here. And the template formats have changed so much that I don't know how long it'll be before I'm able to competently (and confidently!) change the style of my blog.  I have to get rid of this generic appearance soon, though, for my own peace of mind.  My blog should reflect who I am and, though I like green, this isn't really me.

So, I'm here.

Oh!  Also, on the off-chance that I'm not able to retrieve and restore my blog backup, I'll be missing many of your blog URLs to link to.  If you're reading this and want to be reinstated (or linked to for the first time), could you please leave your URL in the comments?  Thanks!

The next time I get the urge to change things around on my blog, urge me to buy a game or read a book instead.

Some Improvement

It seems you can comment now.  I'm still having a lot of problems on my end.  MT installation instructions suck; the info needed to properly install isn't included in the quick-install instructions.  Some of the answers I needed I've found in the most out-of-the-way places.  I'm still having to sign in again after every transaction I make.  And when I try to apply a stylesheet, the page with the style templates won't load properly, and the default style doesn't appear on the blog itself.  So you're stuck with this for the time being.

I really should go to work now that I have this working to this point.  This is going to bug me all day, I just know it.

If you're around, please drop me a comment so I know whether or not it's working for other people, and not just me.  If not, could you please email me to let me know?

Thanks!

Troubles

Seem to have a corrupted file, and doubt this will come through.  I've dumped the MT installation, erased from computer and started all over again, with same results.  Deleted and created new database.  Didn't work.  This was working briefly, and I don't know what I did to cause this problem.  But am working on it.
