Randy turned the tv on at noon, and the news was just coming on.

Big Story

filled the screen as the program began.  Given that it was local news, I didn't expect a global crisis.  A fire?  A bank robbery?  An accident?  These might warrant the title Big Story, so I stopped what I was doing for a moment to find out what was going on.

You know what the Big Story was?

A police officer was arraigned on charges that he stole a garden hose from the department. 

It wasn't even a Big department; it was a small town.

Maybe tomorrow's leading story will be...

ha! tell me about it! sometimes the news just kept on going even if there is really nothing to tell. lol here, the showbiz thing is "the thing" and brr thats why i rarely watch tv..

At least it WAS a news item - if a lame one at that. I've seen the "Emergency" scrawl on the bottom of the screen, complete with the NBC "bong BING boooonnnnng," and the scroll was that there was an audition for American Idol coming up in NYC!
